Atashan mining area is located at 105 km South of Damghan city is registered as Lead-Zinc-Silver license as per following coordination and general and specific Lead and Zinc mineralization.

Lead and zinc deposits have a simple mobile mineralogy, which often includes galena sphalerite, pyrite, marcasite, dolomite, calcite, and quartz. Copper minerals are also sometimes present.

Dolomitization is the most important alteration along with mineralization, and hydrothermal dolomites are formed simultaneously and after mineralization.

The zone of mineralization can vary from mass replaced zones to filling empty spaces and fractures, sheared and scattered. The largest concentrations of lead mineralization in the world can be seen in Michigan and Arizona, Germany, Russia, Australia, and Iran.

Formation environment and host rock of lead:

Lead and zinc deposits, like Atahan lead and zinc deposits, are mostly formed in dolomite and dolomitized lime. MVT deposits are formed in the form of epigenetic and strati-bands in carbonate platform environments or foreland thrust belts and in shallow environments. Their host rock has so far been mostly dolestone and less limestone and shale.

In the exploration area of ​​Atahan, traces of lead mineralization can be found in abundance. Lead and zinc mineralization is found in the brown dolomite limestone strip that is wide throughout the area and can be seen for 300 meters. On the lead and zinc vein, many old work of over 50 wells and tunnels can be seen.

Lead mineralization in the Atahan region is generally in the form of lead sulfide (galena) and lead carbonate (creosote).

Zinc mineralization also generally includes the mineral smith zonite (zinc carbonate).

Mineralization in the exploration area of ​​Atahan includes several veins and mineral masses in an area 300 meters long and approximately 5 to 15 meters wide and located along the fractures and faults and along with brown altered dolomites.
